More adventures in expanding my palette

I have a Yoplait yogurt every morning for breakfast. Usually the strawberry orange sunrise, sometimes red raspberry. This makes me feel like I am doing something good for myself. Plus, I hate eating breakfast so I get a little something in the tummy when I start the day.

Friday night we were having dinner with some friends. Our host had invited his brother over, a nurse. So I started asking him all these questions about how much and how often I should do strenuous excercise, things that I eat and so forth. I mentioned my yogurt routine and everyone laughed. Everyone told me that it was just full of sugar and I was not really doing anything extra special for my body.

I was told that I should be eating plain yogurt and filling it with berries and granola. I scowled and scrunched my nose in disgust. Why would I eat that hippie crap? Berries I am totally down for. Granola, mmm, I only eat that when it has chocolate chips in it. Ha! And plain yogurt- you have got to be kidding me. That is nasty.

Well, Shelton and I went grocery shopping yesterday and he convinced me to at least try it. So we bought some plain yogurt, raspberries and strawberries. We went to the health food store around the corner from our house and bought french vanilla granola with sliced almonds. And this morning I tried it.

Shelton said I looked like a cat- hair on end, back hunched up, hissing and completely on the defense. I took the first hesitant bite, and whattya know- it tasted pretty damn good. So good in fact that I scraped the bowl clean and I am very much looking forward to having more tomorrow.

It is a good thing that I had my last Yoplait on Friday- that way they do not go to waste. Once again, I curl up my nose at something I have yet to try and I am blown away by the fact that it actually tastes good. Who knew.
